* The Red-Eared Slider Turtle is native to the Mississippi Valley. It lives up north to Illinois and south to the Gulf. In addition, it also lives in Tennessee, Cumberland river valley, southeast Kentucky and southwest Virginia. Currently, the Red-Eared Slider Turtle has spread to other areas such as west to New Mexico, east to Florida, North to New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
* Although it has spread to most of the continental United States, it is unable to live in the northern states and Canada where the cold is very harsh. The Red-Eared Slider Turtle has also spread to parts of South America. In addition, this animal has been successful in Europe and Asia. Actually, there are concerns that the Red-Eared Slider Turtle will become the dominant turtle in these two continents.
